Between Worlds

A poignant reflection on the spaces between who we were and who we are becoming. Through quiet, powerful verses, the poem explores identity, belonging, and the difficult grace of choosing growth over familiarity.

Between Worlds

I stand at the edge
one foot in what was,
one in what won’t remember me.

“You don’t belong here,”
the new world says,
wrapping itself around
my name.

“But you don’t exist anymore,”
the other replies.

Steady.
Unshaken.

I look between them,

same hands,
different pulse.

One aches to return,
to fit into memories
that still call me home.

The other,
quiet, unfamiliar,
doesn’t ask permission
to live.

“Choose,” they both say.

And I realize
only one of them
is letting me breathe.
